In the semi-final match played on Friday, 11-July 2008 at Shabani ground, Kokan–XI defeated the last year runner–up Dywidag by 5 wickets.

With an asking rate of just under 6, Kokan XI began their chase but lost the wicket of Sarfaraz Golandaz in the very first over of the innings. Due to tight bowling, runs were not coming easily and at the end of 8th over the score was 41 runs for loss of 4 wickets, but later thanks to partnership of 59 runs for 5th wicket between last match centurion Rashid Chowdhary and Imran Zhatam, we managed to reach the target in 16.5 overs. Rashid remaining not out on well made 49 runs of just 32 balls with Imran ( 23 runs of 25 balls) giving him good support.

27TH JUNE 2008
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barkatahu.
Well, after a long break, I’ am posting the cricket news from Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This Friday, 27-Jun-2008, we played a do or die match with AMACO and the brief commentary is as follows:
Kokan-XI, under the captaincy of Aslam Chougle, beat three times champion AMACO in the quarter finals of AJCA Cup–2008 by 1 run. In a nerve cracking match which had a total of over 400 runs, a magnificent century, a brilliant half century, a marvelous partnership and a dramatic last over . A match of fluctuating fortunes as both team fought hard to win the game in hot afternoon at Shabani Ground, Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
AMACO after winning the toss, surprisingly elected to field first, and their decision seems to be correct as we didn’t get the expected start from our openers as Wasim Golandaz was run out on the Second ball of the match attempting to take a second run, soon after we lost our one down batsman Imran (11 runs of 11 balls) – bowled round his leg at the team score of 17. At the end of the 4th over the score was 20 for the loss of 2 wicket with Rashid Choudhary and Sarfaraz Golandaz at the crease, later what we saw was splendid display of batting as both of them scored runs at will. Rashid went to score a magnificent century of just 45 balls and Sarfaraz brilliantly supporting him with a well made half century of just 33 balls, Both of them shared a marvelous partnership of 159 runs taking the score from 17 in the fourth over to 176 in the sixteenth over. The partnership was broken when Sarfaraz was caught out attempting to go for big shot in the slog overs, he scored 53 runs made of 37 balls and soon after Rashid followed him when he too was caught out attempting for big shot in order to increase the run rate. He scored 102 runs made of just 48 balls. With Muzaffar Bachne contributing 18 runs of 11 balls at the end of the innings, we went on score 204 runs for loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs , a score which we felt was sufficient to put pressure on a champion team of AMACO.
Requiring 205 runs to win, AMACO started their run chase and didn’t seems to be bothered about the target as they manage to score runs at almost the required rate , but our bowlers stuck to their task and with support of some good fielding were successful in getting their batsmen out at regular intervals. But it all came down to the dramatic last over (bowled by Wasim Golandaz) where 7 runs were required with just 1 wicket remaining, what we saw was our fielder dropping a sitter, our wicket keeper making a brilliant attempt to take catch, the tempers running high between both sides and with the equation of 3 runs of 1 ball our bowler went to bowl a wide, but at the very moment when the ball was returned by the W/K, with some smart thinking by the bowler he was successful in running out the non striker who had gone out of the crease. AMACO were bowled out for 203 runs and we went to win one of the memorable match.
A well deserved and satisfying victory as we defeated 3 times champion AMACO.
We have now qualified for the semi final, Alhamdulillah, and will try our best to win and qualify for the finals, Insha'allah. We hope you all will pray for our success.
Our batting:
Wasim Golandaz Run out 1 (2 balls)
Sarfaraz Golandaz Catch out 53 (37 balls)

Assalamu Alaikum ya shabab
It has been long time gap that Kokan 11 – Jubail, Saudi Arabia played a competitive match. You can say this as beginning of new season for Kokan 11 with few of the past match winning players having left us and new players replacing them. We hope to continue our winning streak as we did last season.
Coming to the match which was played on 11-Jan-2008 at Shabani Ground on a wet but pleasant winter afternoon against Muzain. Winning the toss, Kokan 11 decided to bat first with Rashid Choudhary and Zameer Chougle opening the batting. Rashid Choudhary batted brilliantly scoring 18 runs of the very first over of the match but unluckily he was out early scoring 23 runs of just 11 balls. One down batsman Muzaffar Bachne did a splendid job and maintained the run rate of above 10 runs per over but he was caught in the deep for 34 runs made of just 17 balls. Zameer Chogle who kept one end going with his firm batting was unluckily run out for a well made 19 runs of 25 balls .Muzaffar Dhamaskar - 42 runs of 24 balls and Wasim Golandaz – 28 runs of 16 balls both remained not out and scored at a brisk pace which help us to score a total of 163 for loss of 3 wicket in the allotted 16 overs.
Chasing the target Muzain team kept losing wickets at regular intervals due which they were always behind the asking rate of 10 runs per over. Our bowlers bowled decently and managed to bowled them out for 121 runs with Zameer Chougle being the most successful bowler taking 3 wkts for 22 runs. Maroof Mitkar supported him by taking 2 wkts for 15. Nadim Pathan, Muzaffar Dhamaskar and Wasim Golandaz also took one wicket each.
It was very difficult to judge the Man-of-the-match since Muzaffar Dhamaskar scored 42 runs in just 24 balls and took one wicket. On the other hand, Zameer Chogle scored 19 runs and took 3 crucial wickets. Finally, it was decided to give them this award jointly for their all-round performance.
A satisfying performance and a good start to a long season ahead. We hope that we will keep up the good performance, Inshaallah.
Best regards,
Nadim Yunus Pathan

The three match series against Al Suwaidi could not be completed as Al Suwaidi didn’t turn up to play the scheduled matches. Hence the series was abandoned.

As a result, on Friday – 07th Sept we played a 16 overs match against one of the stronger team of Jubail – Sahara-XI led by Adel Pasha.

Losing the toss we fielded first and started brilliantly when they got the opening batsmen (Khan) out on the very first ball of the match delivered by strike bowler Wasim Golandaz. As it has been throughout this summer our bowlers bowled brilliantly, though we could manage to take 5 wickets only, but did not gave much opportunity for their batsmen to score runs freely. Inspite of having one of the finest batting line up in Jubail, Sahara XI managed to score just 102 runs for the loss of 5 wkts in their allotted 16 overs. Maruf Mitkar was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets for 22 runs in his 3 overs

Chasing a target of 103 runs, both the opening batsmen Aslam Chogle and Tausif Pathan batted magnificently, managing to score runs freely they both put of a partnership of 51 runs for the first wicket when Tausif Pathan was out caught behind for a well made 26 runs off 19 balls. This was the only success Sahara XI got, as Aslam Chogle who remained not out on 44 runs scored of just 24 balls and Imtiaz Tambe who scored the winning runs by hitting a six remained not out on 29 runs (3 sixes) scored of just 15 balls. Our team reach the target of 102 in just 10.2 overs with a loss of only 1 wicket…….
